'People want job, not this': High Court raps Punjab govt over 'Tirath Yatra' scheme, issues notice
PTC News Desk: Punjab and Haryana High Court slammed the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP)-led state government on Saturday for the recently launched 'Tirath Yatra scheme,' saying that "people want employment, not such schemes."
Parvinder Singh Kitna, through Advocate HC Arora, has filed a PIL in the High Court against this scheme, claiming that the government is wasting money with this scheme when schemes for the welfare of the common people could be implemented instead.
The Supreme Court also ordered that a similar scheme that provided Haj subsidies be gradually phased out.
Notably, the High Court slammed the government over this scheme, questioning the need for it and whether there was any demand for it.
"Common people need jobs, not such schemes," said the HC.
The High Court has now issued a notice to the Punjab Government for December 12 and sought a reply explaining why this scheme should not be suspended.
