IPS VK Bhawra challenges Gaurav Yadav's appointment as Punjab DGP
PTC News Desk: V.K Bhawra, a senior IPS officer and former DGP Punjab, has filed a petition in CAT Chandigarh, challenging the appointment of Gaurav Yadav, IPS (1992), as Head of Police Force, Punjab.
The petition will most likely be heard on October 30, 2023.
In the petition filed against Gaurav Yadav's appointment, VK Bhawra stated that the appointment of Gaurav Yadav to the post of DGP was not done in accordance with UPSC provisions and procedures. “In addition, the Union Home Ministry has written a letter to the Punjab Government regarding his appointment. It has been stated that the post must be filled in accordance with the rules,” he added.
Bhawra is an officer from the 1987 batch, while Gaurav Yadav is from the 1992 batch." Gaurav Yadav is junior to him in this regard, and seniority has been disregarded in this appointment," the petition stated.
