His supporters started gathering outside the jail since early morning as it was stated that he would be released in the noon. However, Navjot Singh Sidhu was released from the Patiala jail around 5.45 pm.

Visibly upset over the delay in the release today in the name of some formalities, Navjot Singh Sidhu trained guns at the AAP-led Bhagwant Mann government as well as the Central Government.  At the same time, he also extended his whole-hearted support for Rahul Gandhi.

Navjot Singh Sidhu said he was supposed to be released around noon, but they (govt) delayed it. They wanted media people to leave, he alleged. " Whenever a dictatorship came to this country, a revolution has also come and this time, the name of that revolution is Rahul Gandhi. He will rattle the govt," said Navjot Singh Sidhu.

The Congress leader said, "There is no such thing as democracy right now. There is a conspiracy to bring in President’s Rule in Punjab. Minorities are being targeted. If you try to weaken Punjab, you will become weak," said Navjot Singh Sidhu soon after his release from Patiala jail.

To a query on law and order, Navjot Singh Sidhu said he would speak on the issue at slain singer Sidhu Moosewala's house. He also evaded any query on the issue of Amritpal Singh.
