Massive uproar in Punjab Assembly over law and order; resolution against CISF at Bhakra Dam passed unanimously

PTC News Desk: The Punjab Assembly unanimously passed the resolution urging centre not to deploy CISF personnel at Bhakhra Beas Management Board. State water resources minister Barinder Kumar Goyal moved a resolution against the Centre’s decision to deploy the Central Industrial Security Force (CISF) at Bhakra-Nangal dam project.


The special Assembly Session has been extended till July 15.

The session started with an uproar in the Assembly as Congress staged a walkout over the murder of Abohar businessman Sanjay Verma on July 7. As soon as the session started, leader of opposition Partap Singh Bajwa raised the issue and demanded a discussion on the incident that was turned down by Speaker Kultar Singh Sandhwan citing that there is no such provision of zero hour in special assembly sessions. 

The opposition asked for discussion over deteriorating law and order situation in the state, land pooling and drug abuse which resulted in massive pandamonium in the assembly.

After the Congress MLAs returned to their seats, a heated argument ensued between finance minister Harpal Singh Cheema and leader of oppostion Partap Singh Bajwa. 

Meanwhile CM Mann clarified that the opposition will be answered on each and every issue date wise.
