Mohali HDFC bank suicide: FIR against Punjab police AIG, four others after man shoots himself dead inside bank
PTC News Desk: An FIR has been filed against Punjab police AIG Gurjot Kaler and four others after a man shot himself dead inside HDFC bank of Mohali branch on Tuesday. The deceased has been identified as Rajveer Singh, resident of Moga and used to run immigration office in Phase 11 and Sector 82, Mohali.
According to the information, the police officials have recovered a video in which Rajveer alleged harrassment by the AIG. In the video he said that AIG Kaler asked him to visit his residence and abused him and his family members and recorded videos.
Following the recovery of the video, a case was registered against AIG Gurjot Kaler and four others under section 108 and 61 (2) of BNS at phase 8 police station.
The incident unfolded on Tuesday afternoon when Rajveer arrived at the bank and went to the loan department on the first flood of the building. Later he shot himself inside the washroom, triggering panic among the staff.
Soon after the police control room was informed about the incident and they immediately took the body into their custody and sent for post mortem.
Phase 8 SHO Satnam Singh said, “We received information about the incident around 2.30 pm, following which police teams reached the spot immediately. The forensic team has started their examination of the area. Bank officials are being interrogated to determine what exactly happened inside the branch. We are also investigating whether the gun used was a licensed firearm or not. The man reportedly shot himself in the toilet.”
