Mohali youth dies in road accident in Canada, family seeks help to bring back mortal remains
PTC News Desk: A 22-year-old student died in a road accident in Ontario, Canada. The incident took place on January 5 on Highway-401 near Cramahe Township. The exact cause of the accident is still unknown, and the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) are investigating the matter.
The victim, Arman Chauhan was a resident of Lalru Mandi in Punjab's Mohali district. He was the only son of his parents and had gone to Canada for his studies.
According to the police, Armaan was travelling with a friend from Montreal to Toronto. However, it has emerged that Armaan was on foot at the time of the accident. It is still unclear how he ended up walking on the busy highway. An investigation has been launched to ascertain the exact causs of the accident.
Police investigating the case
The Ontario Provincial Police received information that a pedestrian had been hit by a car in the westbound lanes of the highway. When officers reached the spot, they found a car parked near the median. It has not yet been confirmed whether Armaan died after being hit by that same car or if he was struck by another vehicle. The police are examining CCTV footage from nearby locations and dashcam recordings to piece together the sequence of events.
Emergency services tried to provide immediate assistance after the accident, but Armaan succumbed to his injuries.
The family has demanded a fair and transparent investigation. In the wake of financial constraints, the family has appealed to the administration and the Indian Government to provide assitance in bringing back his mortal remains.
