Poila Baisakh 2024: Bangiya Sanskitik Sammilani celebrates Bengali New Year at Chandigarh's Tagore Theatre

Poila Baisakh 2024: The Bangiya Sanskitik Sammilani (Regd.) hosted a function at Tagore Theatre, Sector-18, Chandigarh, to commemorate the Bengali New Year - Poila Baisakh. The UT Administrator Banwarilal Purohit attended the function as the Chief Guest.

The event featured mesmerising Bengali songs, the puppet show 'Bajarbattu', and cultural performances. The Chief Guest, Banwarilal Purohit, along with Dr Amit Bhattacharya, President, and Col. Deepak, General Secretary, of Bangiya Sanskritik Sammilani, congratulated and distributed certificates to dignitaries who have served the society in the field of education for many years and decades in the city. 


The chief guest wished everyone a 'Nobo Borso' and emphasised that this auspicious day celebrated in West Bengal marks the first day of the first month of Baishakh in the Bengali solar calendar and announces the start of the Bengali New Year. 

Purohit stated that Bengal was always at the forefront of the freedom struggle. He recalled the famous trio of 'Lal Bal Pal' and shared inspirational stories from Swami Vivekanand's life. The Administrator fondly remembered the West Bengal Foundation Day, which was celebrated in Punjab Raj Bhavan, and stated that Chandigarh is a symbol of Mini India, with people from all states and cultures being an integral part.
