Punjab Cabinet gives nod to fill over 500 vacancies in Milkfed

Chandigarh, January 6: In the first Punjab Cabinet meeting of 2023 on Friday, Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann led-Punjab Government has gave nod to fill 500 vacancies in Milkfed. 

The Punjab Cabinet announced to fill Group C and D vacancies. Besides this, 150 ‘sewadars’ would be recruited Civil Secretariat.


“With more recruitment in Milkfed department, Verka can expect more transparency in the business. In addition to that, youth of Punjab looking for employment opportunities in the state will also get a chance,” said Punjab Finance Minister Harpal Cheema while addressing the media after the Cabinet meeting.

The Cabinet also changed the name of collegial institutions to Directorate of Higher Education.

The Punjab Cabinet also announced to introduce new scrap policy for vehicles soon, to prevent accidents caused by old vehicles plying on the road. Talking about the new scrap policy, Harpal Cheema said, “If owners scrap their old vehicles properly as directed by the state government, they will offered tax rebate on purchase of their new vehicles”. 

Talking about the state-run schools, Harpal Cheema said the government had allocated Rs 33 crore to hire cleaners and security guards for government schools to ensure security of students. He further stated that school management committees would make recruitment in this regard.
