Punjab Covid-19 Update: Amid low Covid testing, Patiala reports another case
Chandigarh: The Punjab health department is said to be alert regarding Corona cases in Punjab, however on testing front state lags behind largely. On December 26, Patiala reported fresh covid case. With this, the number of active cases in the state has increased to 38. Meanwhile, no patient has recovered in this span of time.
Meanwhile, questions are constantly being raised on low covid testing in Punjab. Seems that state government is not taking it seriously as on December 26, not a single Covid test was conducted in Fazilka and Mansa. In Kapurthala and Shaheed Bhagat Singh Nagar, only 1-1 Covid test were conducted.
No tests were conducted in Fazilka and Mansa. While only 5 tests were conducted in Ferozepur, Kapurthala-1, Malerkotla-4, Moga-4, Muktsar-2, Pathankot-6, Ropar-2 and SBS Nagar-1. Apart from these, only 18 to 50 Covid tests have been conducted in most of the districts. Of these, Bathinda-22, Fatehgarh Sahib 30, Gurdaspur-22, Hoshiarpur 18, SAS Nagar 32 and Tarn Taran 45 tests were conducted. The highest number of corona tests have been done in Jalandhar-658, Patiala-140, Sangrur-140, Ludhiana-122, Amritsar-69 and Faridkot-61.
On December 26, the impact of Covid testing across Punjab remained negligible, while a total of 5497 Covid samples were taken on December 25. Along with this, this figure reduced to only 2050 on December 26. On December 25, 5140 people were tested for Covid but on December 26, the figure remained only 1432.
