Punjab govt transfers 8 districts of Rajpura to Mohali in major boundary reshuffle
PTC News Desk: In a significant development, the Punjab government has made amendments in administrative boundaries transferring 8 villages of Patiala districts to from Rajpura Tehsil of Patiala district to Banur Sub-Tehsil in SAS Nagar (Mohali).
The reorganisation has been executed under the powers conferred by Section 5 of the Punjab Land Revenue Act, 1887, and Section 5 of the Registration Act, 1908.
The villages which have been transferred are:
Manakpur
Khera Gajju
Urna
Changera
Ucha Khera
Gurditpura
Hadayatpura
Lehlan
These villages will now fall under the jurisdiction of Sub-Tehsil Banur, Tehsil and District SAS Nagar (Mohali). The changes comes into effect immediately with release of the gazette notification.
The reports suggest that the reorganisation follows long standing demands of the local residents for improved connectivity and services, which were reportedly more accessible through SAS Nagar than Patiala.
