Reliance rolls out 10-point relief plan for Punjab flood victims

PTC Web Desk: In response to the devastating floods that have swept across Punjab, Reliance Industries Limited has launched a comprehensive, multi-pronged humanitarian initiative to provide urgent relief and support to affected communities. The 10-point plan, executed by Reliance Foundation, Vantara, Reliance Retail, and Jio, is reaching over 10,000 families in the worst-hit areas, including villages in Amritsar and Sultanpur Lodhi.

Anant Ambani, Director of Reliance Industries, said, “Our heart goes out to the people of Punjab in this hour of suffering. Families have lost homes, livelihoods, and a sense of security. The entire Reliance family is standing with them — providing food, water, shelter kits, and care for both people and animals. We are committed to walk alongside Punjab through this difficult time.”

Key components of the 10-point relief plan:

Nutrition Support: Dry ration kits containing essential food supplies are being distributed to 10,000 families. Additionally, voucher-based assistance worth Rs 5,000 each is being provided to 1,000 of the most vulnerable households, especially those led by single women or elderly members. Community kitchens are also receiving dry ration support to ensure immediate nourishment. Portable water filters have been deployed to guarantee safe drinking water in waterlogged areas.

Shelter Support: Emergency shelter kits, including tarpaulins, groundsheets, mosquito nets, ropes, and bedding, are being distributed to displaced families.

Public Health and Sanitation: Health awareness sessions are being conducted, and water sources are being disinfected to prevent post-flood disease outbreaks. Sanitation kits containing hygiene essentials are being provided to every affected household.

Livestock Support: Veterinary surveys indicate significant distress among livestock due to waterlogging. Reliance Foundation and Vantara, in collaboration with the Animal Husbandry Department, are providing medicines, vaccines, and care for affected animals. Over 3,000 silage bundles are being distributed for nearly 5,000 cattle, while a 50-member Vantara expert team ensures the rescue and treatment of animals, including dignified cremation for deceased livestock to prevent disease outbreaks.

Reliance teams are coordinating with district administrations, panchayats, and the Animal Husbandry Department to provide immediate, life-saving assistance while planning medium-term recovery. Jio teams have restored network connectivity in flood-affected regions in partnership with NDRF teams to ensure communication remains uninterrupted.
