Sidhu Moosewala murder: Punjab Police get Sachin Bishnoi's custody till October 6
PTC Web Desk: Punjab's Mansa court on Friday granted the custody of gangster Sachin Bishnoi, alias Sachin Thapan, who has been linked to the murder of Punjabi singer Sidhu Moosewala, to the Punjab Police until October 6.
The nephew of jailed gangster Lawrence Bishnoi, Sachin Bishnoi alias Sachin Thapan, was extradited from Azerbaijan last month and, on Friday, the Punjab Police brought him from Delhi to Mansa based on a production warrant, according to a senior police official.
"He has been remanded in police custody by a Mansa court until October 6," the official added.
He will be interrogated in connection with the Sidhu Moosewala case, as he is suspected of involvement in the conspiracy and logistics handling related to the murder. While he was overseas when the killing occurred, he attempted to mislead investigators by falsely claiming responsibility for shooting Moosewala.
The Delhi Police had earlier revealed that Sachin Bishnoi had left India using a counterfeit passport and reached Azerbaijan, where he conspired with other accomplices to coordinate the activities of his organised crime group operating in Delhi and neighbouring states. A Red Corner Notice was issued for his arrest, and a team from the Delhi Police later brought him back from Azerbaijan.
Bishnoi is also a suspect in several cases being investigated by the Special Cell of the Delhi Police.
The popular Punjabi singer, Shubhdeep Singh Sidhu, known as Sidhu Moosewala, was fatally shot in Mansa district on May 29, 2022.
