Sukhbir Singh Badal continues with 'sewa' for seventh day at Takht Sri Damdama Sahib
PTC News Desk: Former Deputy CM of Punjab and Shiromani Akali Dal leader Sukhbir Singh Badal continues with his religious penance as pronounced by Akal Takht. On the seventh day of his sewa, he reached Takht Sri Damdama Sahib to perform sewa.
Wheelchair bound, wearing blue 'sewadar' uniform and with a spear in hand Sukhbir Singh Badal continued his service. Despite being a Z protectee, he is performing the duties of a sewadar at the gate of gurdwara premises and listening to kirtan, while also washing dishes in the community kitchen.
Badal who was surrounded by heavy security forces, sat at the entrance of the Gurdwara from 9 am for an hour followed by listening to gurbani kirtan and washing dishes in the community kitchen. The penance is a part of religious punishment pronounced by Akal Takht for religious misconduct during his tenure as deputy chief minister.
The Akal Takht has directed Badal to perform similar duties at prominent gurdwaras, including the Golden Temple in Amritsar, Takht Kesgarh Sahib, Takht Damdama Sahib and Darbar Sahib in Muktsar and Fatehgarh Sahib.
Earlier on December 4, Akali leader survived an assassination attempt when Khalistan supporter Narein Singh Chaurra opened fire at him.
