Gurdaspur double murder: Man kills brother, sister-in-law over land dispute

PTC News Desk: A property dispute in Nainkot village in Gurdaspur district turned fatal when a man allegedly shot dead his brother and sister-in-law over land division, killing them on the spot.

A property dispute in Nainkot village under Gurdaspur led to a tragic incident in which a man allegedly shot dead his own brother and sister-in-law during a fight over land division. After receiving information about the incident, DSP Kulwant Singh Mann also reached the spot.

According to reports, three brothers — Ajaib Singh, Amarjit Singh and Tarsem Singh, sons of Bhajan Singh — were involved in a dispute over nine killas of land in their village. On the day of the incident, Ajaib Singh was out for his usual morning walk when his brother Amarjit Singh allegedly opened fire on him and killed him.

After this, Amarjit Singh allegedly went to Ajaib Singh’s house and shot dead his wife, Kamal Kaur. Following the murders of his brother and sister-in-law, the accused Amarjit Singh surrendered himself at Punjab Police station Kahnuwan.

DSP Kulwant Singh said that the accused had been taken into custody and was being questioned. He added that both bodies had been sent for post-mortem examination. According to the police, the murders were the result of the ongoing land dispute.
