Punjab CM Mann announces major price cut on Verka milk, dairy products

PTC Web Desk: In a major relief for households, Punjab Chief Minister Bhagwant Singh Mann on Friday announced a significant reduction in the prices of Verka milk and other dairy products. The decision, aimed at easing the financial burden on consumers, will come into effect from the morning of September 22.

The Punjab Chief Minister said Verka, the trusted brand of Milkfed,  Punjab’s cooperative federation of farmers , had slashed prices across its popular range of milk and dairy products. He added that the revised prices were in line with the Government of India’s GST 2.0 reforms, which reduced tariffs on essential dairy items.

Detailing the revised rates, CM Mann said consumers would benefit from the following reductions:

Ghee: Cheaper by Rs 30–35 per litre/kg

Table Butter: Reduced by Rs 30 per kg

Unsalted Butter: Reduced by Rs 35 per kg

Processed Cheese: Reduced by Rs 20 per kg

Paneer: Reduced by Rs 15 per kg

UHT Milk (Standard, Toned, and Double Toned): Reduced by Rs 2 per litre

Ice Cream (gallon, brick, and tub): Reduced by Rs 10 per litre

CM Mann said the price cuts would not only ease pressure on consumers but also expand access to quality dairy products, boost demand, and ultimately enhance sales. “This step will also lead to higher tax revenues, thereby strengthening the state’s financial position while ensuring compliance and quality standards,” he said.
