Wanted criminal shot dead in Ludhiana park, police probe gang rivalry angle
PTC Web Desk: A wanted criminal was shot dead in broad daylight at a public park in Ludhiana on Wednesday. The crime took place at Green Park near Jamalpur Chowk in the afternoon when the victim, identified as Pardeep Billa, a resident of Ram Nagar Bhamiya, was allegedly attacked by assailants who arrived on a scooter.
According to the police, Billa had come to the park for a walk and was accompanied by two young women at the time of the shooting. Preliminary investigations suggest that an argument broke out between the attackers and the victim shortly before the firing. Eyewitnesses reported hearing a single gunshot, after which Billa collapsed on the spot.
The police confirmed that Billa was also carrying a revolver at the time of the incident. He added that the two women who were with him fled the spot soon after the firing. The police received information about the incident around 4.30 pm and rushed to the scene.
Medical examination revealed that the bullet entered the right side of Billa’s head and exited from the left, causing instant death. Blood was found splattered across the crime scene.
Pardeep Billa had five to six criminal cases registered against him and was wanted in multiple cases. His body has been sent to the Civil Hospital for post-mortem examination.
Billa’s aides and close contacts are being questioned to determine possible motives and identify those responsible. CCTV footage from nearby areas is also being examined. The park, located close to a busy intersection, usually sees heavy footfall in the evening.
Further investigation is underway.
