Wushu player dies at Chandigarh University during ongoing championship

PTC News Desk: In a tragic incident, a Wushu player hailing from Rajasthan died during the ongoing All-India Inter-University Wushu Championship organised by a national body at Chandigarh University, Gharuan.


The deceased has been identified as Mohit Sharma who reportedly died due to cardiac arrest however the exact cause if death is yet to be ascertained. Onlookers claimed he collapsed on the mat during a bout. They further said that he was struggling to return after he was knocked out of the ring. 

The referee was seen asking for help to lift the player and he was immediately rushed to the hospital where doctor declared him brought dead. 

The family members of the player have been informed about the unfortunate incident and body will be further sent for post mortem examination. “A young boy has died during a tournament in the university. The body has been kept in the mortuary of the Civil Hospital, Kharar. The family members of the deceased have been informed about the incident. A post-mortem examination will be conducted,” Kamal Taneja, SHO, Gharuan said.
