Punjab elections 2022: Sanyukt Samaj Morcha gets 'Cot' as party symbol

Days after getting recognition by the Election Commission of India, the Sanyukt Samaj Morcha led by farmer leader Balbir Singh Rajewal has got 'Cot' as the party symbol ahead of Punjab Assembly elections 2022. Earlier, the Election Commission of India had raised some objections regarding the name of the party, due to which the matter of its approval was stuck. Sanyukt Samaj Morcha has made farmer leader Balbir Singh Rajewal its chief ministerial face. On not getting recognition, Balbir Singh Rajewal had alleged that his party was not getting registered because of the objections being raised by the Aam Aadmi Party and BJP. On the last day of filing nominations, the Election Commission had denied the approval to the party. However, it was given approval on February 2. Punjab Assembly elections 2022 are scheduled to be held on February 20 while the results will be declared on March 10. Earlier, the elections were scheduled to be held on February 14, however, it was postponed following the requests by the Ravidas Community and several political parties.
