Moga (Punjab), February 20: Actor Sonu Sood's sister Malvika Sood Sachar, who is contesting the Punjab assembly elections from Moga seat on Congress ticket, is hopeful of winning in the constituency. "I feel positive for today. Lots of people are calling up including those from foreign countries and are cheering up in my support. Many of them have assured me to vote for me today. If people think that Sonu Sood is a star, then it's an icing on the cake for me," said Congress candidate Malvika. Malvika further added, "I've put forth a lot of effort to improve people's lives. We've done a lot of good in the community. No other candidate, in my opinion, has done as much social work." Sonu Sood's sister hopeful of winning Moga seat Congress, Aam Aadmi Party (AAP), Shiromani Akali Dal-Bahujan Samaj Party alliance and Bharatiya Janata Party-former chief minister Amarinder Singh's Punjab Lok Congress party are all major players in this multi-cornered election. Over 2.14 crore voters of the state will decide the fate of 1304 candidates in the fray from 117 constituencies. The polling started at 8 am and will continue till 6 pm. Of the total 1304 candidates, 231 are from national parties, 250 from state parties, 362 from unrecognised parties and 461 are Independent candidates. Sonu Sood's sister hopeful of winning Moga seat Apart from three special state observers, the Election Commission of India has appointed 65 general observers, 50 expenditure observers and 29 police observers, who are keeping a close vigil on the proceedings. In the 2017 assembly elections in Punjab, Congress had won 77 seats and Shiromani Akali Dal won18 seats. The AAP, on the other hand, came in second place with 20 seats.
