Punjab makes 7-day quarantine must for international passengers
Amid growing concerns over the new Covid-19 variant Omicron, the Punjab government has revised the guidelines for international passengers arriving in the state.
As per the revised guidelines, the travellers from countries at risk will have to undergo a post-arrival Covid-19 test and will be required to wait for their test results at the airport.

If tested positive, their samples will be sent for genomic testing. Meanwhile, all passengers are being sent for seven days mandatory quarantine despite testing negative.

After completing the 7-day quarantine, the person will have to undergo the Covid test again. If tested negative, he will be sent home with advice to self isolate himself for another seven days.
Children under the age of five years have been exempted from both pre and post-arrival testing. However, they will have to undergo testing if found symptomatic for Covid-19.
Also, Punjab Deputy Chief Minister and Health Minister Om Prakash Soni has ordered 40,000 daily tests following reports of a new Covid-19 variant Omicron in some parts of the world.
On Monday, Om Prakash Soni asked the health officials to ensure strict monitoring of passengers coming especially from South Africa, Brazil, Bangladesh, Botswana, China, Mauritius, New Zealand, Zimbabwe, Singapore, Hong Kong, and Israel as the new variant cases have been detected recently. -PTC News
