Punjab to extend relief of Rs 50 lakh to kin of Lance Naik Jasbir Singh
Chandigarh: Punjab Chief Minister Charanjit Singh Channi on Friday announced ex-gratia grant of Rs 50 lakh and a government job to one member of the bereaved family of Lance Naik Jasbir Singh, who was martyred while fighting terrorists in the Anantnag area of Kulgam district, Jammu and Kashmir.
Extending his heartfelt sympathies to the bereaved family of Lance Naik Jasbir Singh, Punjab Chief Minister Charanjit Singh Channi said his utmost dedication to defend the country’s sovereignty, besides safeguarding its unity and integrity, even putting his life to stake, would ever inspire his peers to perform their duties with far more devotion and commitment.

Martyr Jasbir Singh hailed from Tarn Taran district and is survived by his parents, a brother and a sister.
He had visited home in October. On November 18, he reported for duty on the promise of returning around the New Year.

Earlier, the Jammu and Kashmir Police said a total of 171 terrorists, including 19 from Pakistan, were killed this year. "A total of 171 terrorists were killed this year, out of which 19 were Pakistani terrorists and 152 were local terrorists. Last year, 37 civilians were killed, but this year 34 civilians have been killed," said the IGP, Kashmir.
He said almost all top commanders of the terrorist group were killed this year, only three-four were left. Almost all long-term surviving terrorists had been neutralised.
