Rajasthan, Kerala reduce VAT on petrol, diesel; know revised rates
VAT cut on petrol and diesel: Following a reduction of fuel prices by the Centre, the Rajasthan government on Saturday reduced the Value-added tax (VAT) on petrol by Rs 2.48 per litre and diesel by Rs 1.16 per litre.
Taking to Twitter, the Rajasthan chief minister Ashok Gehlot said, "Due to the reduction in the prices of petrol and diesel by the central government, the state government will reduce VAT by Rs 2.48 per litre on petrol and Rs 1.16 per litre on diesel. With this, petrol will be cheaper by Rs 10.48 and diesel by Rs 7.16 per litre in the state."
Meanwhile, the Kerala government also announced a cut in tax on the prices of petrol and diesel by Rs 2.41 and Rs 1.36 respectively.

The Centre announced a cut in excise duty on petrol by Rs 8 per litre and on diesel by Rs 6 per litre earlier on Saturday, in a significant move aimed at providing relief to people reeling from high fuel prices.
Finance Minister Sitharman announced the move in a series of tweets, anticipating a revenue impact of around Rs 1 lakh crore per year. The minister, who also made a number of other announcements aimed at decreasing inflation, stated that subsidies will be provided on cylinders under the Ujjwala scheme.
She urged states to lower VAT on fuel products to benefit the common man.
