4 rapes in 3 days with 0 arrests: Protesters burn Haryana CM Khattar's effigy in Delhi
Effigies of Haryana CM Manohar Lal Khattar were burnt outside Haryana Bhawan in Delhi on Wednesday after four incidents of rape took place in the past three days in Haryana. These were reported from Kurukshetra/Jind, Panipat, Pinjore and Faridabad. In three of these, the victims were brutally murdered. Former Haryana chief minister Bhupinder Singh Hooda, meanwhile said that lawlessness and lack of leadership are the major reason behind increased crime including rape in Haryana. Hooda said this after meeting Governor Kaptan Singh Solanki to discuss the recent incidents of rape and murder in the state. On Monday, Congress spokesperson Randeep Singh Surjewala, citing National Crime Records Bureau (NCRB) data, had tweeted: "In 2016, there have been 1,198 rapes, 191 gangrapes and 4,019 kidnapping cases. Under the (Manohar Lal) Khattar government, every day there are three murders, three rapes and 11 kidnapping cases. They should be shameful". -PTC News
