Russia-Ukraine war: Russian missiles destroy aircraft repair plant in Lviv
Kiev, March 18: As the combat between Russia and Ukraine continues, Ukraine's Lviv city mayor Andriy Sadovyi stated that the Russian missiles struck an aircraft repair plant in Lviv on Friday, according to The Kyiv independent, a Ukrainian media outlet.
Ukrainian air forces, on the other hand, said that fourteen Russian aerial units were destroyed on March 17, with Ukraine's air defence destroying seven aircraft, one helicopter, three UAVs, and three cruise missiles.
Meanwhile, after the US and other western countries, Japan has also imposed sanctions on 15 Russian individuals and nine more entities over the military operation in Ukraine, the Japanese Foreign Ministry said on Friday.

Australia has also imposed sanctions on Russia's finance ministry as well as 11 other banks and government entities, affecting the majority of the country's banking assets as well as all firms that deal with the country's sovereign debt.
“With our recent inclusion of the Central Bank of Russia, Australia has now targeted all Russian government entities responsible for issuing and managing Russia’s sovereign debt,” said Minister for Foreign Affairs Marise Payne.
Furthermore, several current and former European politicians have requested the Norwegian Nobel Committee to nominate Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy for the Nobel Peace Prize in 2022 and the nomination procedure has been extended until March 31.
"We therefore humbly call upon you, the Committee, to consider: Extending and thereby re-opening the nomination procedure for the Nobel Peace Prize until March 31, 2022, to allow for a Nobel Peace Prize nomination for President Zelensky and the people of Ukraine," the statement read.
