March 15,2022: Amid the war between Russia and Ukraine which is getting intense with each passing day, Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky submitted a draft bill in Parliament calling for the extension of martial law for another 30 days in the country as Russia continues its military onslaught against Kiev. According to the Verkhovna Rada, the proposal presented on Monday suggests the extension of the law from 5.30 am on March 26. The President said in a televised address to the nation that all able-bodied men from 18-60 years old were not allowed to leave Ukraine as the country began a general mobilisation of all reserve forces. Two days later, Kiev Mayor Vitali Klitschko declared a daily curfew from 5 p.m. to 8 a.m. The curfew was, however, lifted on February 28. Ukraine-to-'extend'-martial-law-4 Meanwhile, the top UN political affairs official on Monday told the Security Council, that the Russia-Ukraine war is the most severe test the Organization for Security and Cooperation in Europe (OSCE) has faced since its creation in 1975. Rosemary DiCarlo, who is Under-Secretary-General for Political and Peacebuilding Affairs, expressed concern that the Ukraine conflict is worsening and cited unrelenting shelling and bombardment of numerous cities in Ukraine, with civilians killed daily.
