The Shiromani Akali Dal (SAD) today asked Congress president Rahul Gandhi to come clean and tell why he was protecting 1984 genocide perpetrator Jagdish Tytler by ensuring he was treated as a VVIP at Mrs Sheila Dixit’s charge takeover ceremony as Delhi Congress President.

In a statement here, former minister Bikram Singh Majithia said it was condemnable that 1984 perpetrator Jagdish Tytler was seated in the front row at the function in which Mrs Dixit took charge as President of the Delhi Congress. He said the importance given to Tytler at an official Congress function was in line with the Gandhi family policy to honour and protect the ’84 culprits. “It seems Rahul Gandhi is convinced that if he dilutes the importance of the ’84 culprits in any way they will spill the beans and implicate his father for organizing the massacre of 3,000 Sikhs in Delhi alone. This is the reason why Tytler is not being expelled from the Congress and another Rajiv Gandhi crony Kamal Nath, who is also accused of mass murder, was made chief minister of Madhya Pradesh”.

Mr Majithia said the continued protection offered to Tytler by the Gandhi family proved that both Sonia and Rahul Gandhi had been offering lip sympathy to the Sikh community and that they would not proceed against any of the 1984 culprits. “At a time when the Sikh community was expecting Rahul Gandhi to take action against the ’84 culprits he has chosen to give them political patronage proving what the Delhi high court has maintained while awarding life imprisonment to another culprit Sajjan Kumar. Rahul has like is mother Sonia earlier decided to stand with those whose hands are stained with the blood of innocent Sikhs and has insulted the victims of 1984 who have given evidence against Tytler in court. This proves that both mother and son have played with the sentiments of Sikhs by mouthing platitudes for Sikh victims even as their actions prove they stand firmly behind the perpetrators”, he added.
The Akali leader said the Congress party’s actions had sent out a clear signal to the Sikh community that they should rely solely on the wheels of justice to catch up with all those who butchered innocent Sikhs in 1984. “If the Gandhi family had any sympathy with the victims or even human values they would have put the guilty behind bars in 1985 itself. By not doing so they have proved that they are complicit in this crime. We are confident that the courts will uncover this conspiracy also and expose the role of former Prime Minister Rajiv Gandhi in the massacre of Sikhs in 1984”, he added.
