SAD says CM upset with EC for putting a stop on his govt’s conspiracy to defame Akalis Chandigarh, April 9 – The Shiromani Akali Dal (SAD) today condemned chief minister Capt Amarinder Singh for accusing the Election Commission of wrongdoing simply because it had exposed the Congress government’s conspiracy to target the SAD and its top leadership and restrained it from this act. In a statement here, SAD senior vice president Dr Daljit Singh Cheema said it was shocking that the chief minister had acted against constitutional propriety and challenged the fairness of the Election Commission which had adjudicated on a complaint filed against IG Kunwar Vijay Pratap Singh by the SAD after presenting digital evidence of the same. “The manner in which the chief minister has vented out his anger against the EC is proof of the frustration of his government at being caught in the act of politicizing a police action following the heartbreaking sacrilege at Behbal Kalan and Kotkapura in 2015”. Also Read: SAD demands immediate removal of IG Vijay Pratap Singh as member of SIT Stating that it did not behove of a CM to accuse the EC of acting on the directions of the SAD-BJP alliance, Dr Cheema said the very fact that Capt Amarinder Singh did not dispute the merit of the complaint against the SIT officer or the digital evidence presented to the EC in the form of a television interview proved that the EC had acted in an absolutely bonafide manner. He said the Congress party was understandably perturbed because the EC had put a stop to its politics of lies. “That is why Pradesh Congress President Sunil Jakhar rushed to defend the police officer before the Chief Electoral Officer, Punjab and now the CM has gone on to question the authority of the EC and even insulted it brazenly by calling it a tool of the SAD-BJP combine”. Stating that the EC had taken the right stand, Dr Cheema said the Congress game plan was to defame the SAD through the SIT which was acting in a partisan manner with its IG Kunwar Vijay Pratap giving politically motivated interviews designed to show the SAD and its leaders in poor light. “This conspiracy has been nipped in the bud much to the discomfort of the Congress party”, Dr Cheema added. Also Read: SAD Rally In Patiala on 7th- Decision Taken In Core Committee Meeting Held At Village Badal The SAD leader said while the Congress party’s actions were understandable, the manner in which the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) had stepped in to defend the SIT officer as well as the Congress party spoke volumes of the secret understanding between the two parties. “We have been constantly claiming that AAP is a B team of the Congress. This is proved by the manner in which AAP legislator and Leader of Opposition Harpal Cheema issued a made to order statement saying his party would approach the EC for a review of its decision on the IG’s transfer even before the Congress asked for the same”. Asking both the Congress party and AAP to stop petty politics, Dr Cheema said “no party should denigrate a constitutional authority like the Election Commission simply because a particular decision did not go in their favour”.
