CERT-In issues warning of high-severity vulnerabilities in Google Chrome
New Delhi, October 12: CERT-In, the Indian Computer Emergency Response Team, has issued a high-severity warning about "multiple vulnerabilities" found in the popular web browser Google Chrome. These vulnerabilities could potentially allow a remote attacker to execute arbitrary code and trigger a denial of service (DoS) situation on a targeted system.
In a vulnerability advisory released on Wednesday, CERT-In cautioned that a remote attacker might exploit these vulnerabilities by sending a specifically crafted request to the targeted system. Users are strongly advised to implement the necessary updates recommended by the browser's vendor.
The technical details provided in the advisory specify that the affected software versions include "Google Chrome versions prior to 118.0.5993.70/.71 for Windows" and "Google Chrome versions prior to 118.0.5993.70 for Mac and Linux."
The CERT-In website serves as a platform for listing and updating users on vulnerability notes and advisories, providing essential information on various security concerns.
CERT-In functions as the national authority responsible for responding to computer security incidents as they occur.
