WhatsApp rolls out 'view once' feature for voice notes
PTC News Desk: WhatsApp is all set to introduce a new feature to the popular messaging platform. It is testing a "View Once" feature for voice notes.
This feature is currently being tested for Android and iOS users using the app's beta version.
In 2021, WhatsApp added "View Once" for photos and videos to add another layer of privacy to your messages.
WhatsApp has announced that users can now send voice messages that will disappear once they are listened to.
The feature allows users to mark voice notes as "View Once." This protects the recipient's privacy by preventing them from exporting, forwarding, saving, or recording the voice note. The "View Once" audio will be deleted once the recipient has finished listening to it.
Users can now share sensitive information over voice messages with added peace of mind when reading out credit card details to a friend or when planning a surprise.
"View Once" voice messages, like View Once photos and videos, are clearly marked with the "one-time" icon and can only be played once.
WhatsApp protects your voice messages with end-to-end encryption by default, as it does all of your personal messages, and View Once is just another example of our ongoing privacy innovation.
