Shimla rape case: Accused Lt Colonel gets bail
Accused Lt Colonel released on bail in Shimla Rape case on Friday afternoon by the Shimla District Session Judge. The 56-year old colonel was arrested on November 22 following a complaint by the victim, who is the daughter of a Lt Colonel. The victim has alleged that the accused had invited her to his home, saying that he would introduce her to some people who could help her with her modelling career, and raped her there. A day after the Colonel’s arrest, the victim’s statement was recorded in court, where she reiterated her charge. In her complaint, the 21-year-old girl, who is an aspiring model, has said that her father, a Lieutenant Colonel at the Army Training Command (ARTRAC), was called for a party at the ADC club on November 19, where she had met the accused officer. On being told that she was an aspiring model, the Colonel assured her help saying he had some connections in Mumbai. The next day, the Colonel called her father and asked him to send some photographs of her on WhatsApp, which she did. -PTC news
