Chandigarh, June 24: Slain Punjabi singer-cum-rapper Sidhu Moosewala’s new song titled “SYL” has cone out to be a big hit. The song hit one million views on YouTube in just 30 minutes after its release at 6 pm Thursday evening. It registered over four million views within a few hours. The song was released on the official YouTube channel of the slain singer.

The song's significance

“SYL” stands for “Sutlej-Yamuna link” canal, which is currently under construction and was meant to share the waters of Punjab with Haryana.

The song has been sung composed and written by the slain singer only. It touches issues being faced by Punjab such as the demand for the release of Sikh prisoners.

On his son's antim ardas, Balkaur Singh had said “I intend to keep my son alive at least for next nine-10 years. But prior to the release of "SYL", it was leaked on many YouTube channels.

Who is Balwinder Singh Jattana?

He was considered as a ‘Sikh Liberation Hero’ by the Sikh community. He has a crucial role in protesting against the SYL canal. Balwinder Jattana was a militant of the pro-Khalistan outfit Babbar Khalsa, who, along with his three accomplices, had allegedly assassinated some officials who were discussing the construction of the canal at a Chandigarh office in 1990.
