Australia's Glenn Maxwell suffers fractured leg in freak accident at party

Melbourne (Australia), November 13: Australia all-rounder Glenn Maxwell has been ruled out of cricket for an extended period after breaking his leg in "a freak accident" on Saturday at a birthday party in Melbourne.

After fracturing his left fibula on Saturday, the all-rounder has been ruled out of the upcoming ODI series against England, which begins this week, and will undergo extensive rehabilitation. He slipped while running with a friend in the backyard, and his leg became trapped. Maxwell's injury means he won't be able to play in the Sheffield Shield or for Australia A against South Africa in early December.
