PTC Web Desk: India’s star shooter and two-time Olympic medallist Manu Bhaker added another feather to her cap by clinching a bronze medal in the 10m Air Pistol women’s event at the 16th Asian Shooting Championship in Shymkent, Kazakhstan, on Monday.

The 23-year-old delivered a composed performance, scoring 219.7 points in the final. She finished behind Korea’s Jiin Yang (221.3) and China’s Qianke Ma (223.1), who secured gold and silver, respectively. In the qualification round, Manu had impressed with a perfect 100 series, eventually sealing second place with 583 points.

Despite starting cautiously in the final—standing fifth after the first five shots—Manu showed remarkable composure. A crucial 10.5 in her 11th shot lifted her to second place, though a 9.7 in the 17th shot briefly put her in danger of elimination. However, the Paris Olympic medallist steadied herself and secured a podium finish.

Adding to her tally, Manu also bagged another bronze medal in the team event along with Suruchi Phogat and Palak Gulia. The Indian trio scored 1730 points, narrowly behind Korea (1731) and China (1740). This latest medal marks Manu Bhaker’s 10th podium finish at the Asian Shooting Championships.

In other performances, Indian shooters fell short of the podium. Suruchi Singh scored 574 to place 10th, Palak Gulia finished 13th with 573, while Esha Singh managed 577 but ended ninth in the competition.
