PTC News Desk: Mithun Manhas has officially taken charge as the Hon. President of the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) after the Annual General Meeting (AGM) held in Mumbai on Sunday, September 28. He succeeds Roger Binny, stepping into a role that requires balancing growth, performance, and innovation in Indian cricket’s administration.

Joining him in key leadership positions, Rajeev Shukla has been appointed Hon. Vice-President, drawing on his vast experience in cricket governance and strategic planning. Devajit Saikia will serve as Hon. Secretary, while Prabhtej Singh Bhatia has been named Hon. Joint Secretary. Overseeing financial matters, A. Raghuram Bhat takes over as Hon. Treasurer to ensure transparent and efficient management of the board’s resources.

The governance framework was further reinforced with the election of Jaydev Niranjan Shah as the sole Apex Council Member, entrusted with shaping critical policy decisions. Meanwhile, Arun Singh Dhumal and M. Khairul Jamal Majumdar have joined the Governing Council, which is responsible for broader initiatives in Indian cricket. Their combined expertise is expected to strengthen strategy and support development programs at every level of the game.

Manhas himself brings a rich cricketing background to the post. Over an 18-year first-class career, he played 157 matches and scored 9,714 runs at an average of nearly 46, including 27 centuries and 49 half-centuries. His most memorable season came in 2007–08, when he captained Delhi to a long-awaited Ranji Trophy victory while personally scoring 921 runs at an average of 57.56 — a feat that cemented his reputation in domestic cricket.
