PTC Web Desk: England's all-rounder Chris Woakes acknowledges India's home advantage in the ICC Cricket World Cup but is determined to challenge their dominance. England, the defending champions, recently bounced back with a 137-run victory over Bangladesh after an opening match loss to New Zealand. Woakes believes that subcontinental teams are more comfortable with the conditions in India, making it a tough challenge for England.

The World Cup has seen host nations triumph in the last three editions, with India winning in 2011, Australia in 2015, and England in 2019. Despite the challenges, Woakes is confident in England's squad and their ability to compete. He acknowledged that England is often seen as a target in white-ball cricket and expressed their determination to meet expectations.

India has started as favorites, with convincing wins over Australia and Afghanistan. Woakes is eager to improve his performance in the tournament and emphasized that it's a long competition where peaking at the right time is crucial.

The England squad includes Jos Buttler, Moeen Ali, Jonny Bairstow, and others, while Afghanistan's squad is led by Hashmatullah Shahidi and features notable players like Rashid Khan and Mohammad Nabi. England will face Afghanistan in their third World Cup match in Delhi, and a highly anticipated clash with India is scheduled for October 29 in Lucknow.
