Sridevi's dream dinner date turned into a horrific evening within minutes
Bollywood actress Sridevi was getting decked up for a dream dinner date with husband Boney Kapoor in Dubai right before she died.
A source close to the family has revealed that Kapoor, a film producer, flew back from Mumbai and went to her room in the Jumeirah Emirates Towers Hotel around 5:30 in the evening to surprise her with dinner.
Boney woke Sridevi up and the couple spoke to each other for 15 minutes before he invited her for dinner.
To get ready, the actress went to the washroom. When she did not return for 15 minutes, Kapoor knocked on the door. On not getting any response, he had to force open the door to discover Sridevi lying motionless in the bathtub filled with water.
"He tried to revive her and when he could not, he called a friend of his. After that, he informed the police at 9 pm," a source told Khaleej Times.
The actress was declared dead following the arrival of the police and paramedics on the site. The mortal remains were then sent to the General Department of Forensic Medicine for an autopsy.
While the father-daughter duo returned to India, Sridevi stayed back for some shopping. However, Boney flew back to Dubai to surprise his darling wife with a 'surprise' dinner date.
A chartered plane has been sent by industrialist Anil Ambani to bring Sridevi's corpse to Mumbai, where the funeral is expected to happen in the afternoon on Monday.
In the forensic report today, it was declared that she died of drowning after she fell in the bathtub under the influence of alcohol.
