Of eight matches- six in men's section and two in women's section - scheduled for the opening day - July 25 - of the hockey competition of 2020 Tokyo Olympics Game, Indian men will take on New Zealand while women are drawn to play the Netherlands.The draw for both men and women matches was taken out in Tokyo on Tuesday.
According to the draw, Indian men have been drawn in pool A along with Australia, Argentina, Spain, New Zealand and Japan while Indian women are also in pool A with the Netherlands, Germany, Great Britain, Ireland and South Africa.
Indian men will take on New Zealand on July 25, Australia on July 26, Spain on July 28, defending champions Argentina on July 30 and the hoists Japan on July 31.
Quarterfinals are scheduled for August 2, semi-finals for August 4 and the final for August 6.
In all six matches in men's section are scheduled for July 25. Other than India-New Zealand game, Japan starts the campaign with a game against Australia, Netherlands play Belgium and Great Britain face South Africa, Argentina is billed to play Spain and Canada is drawn against Germany on July 25.
In the women's section,India plays the Netherlands in its first match on July 25, and takes on Germany on July 27. On July 29, Indian women play defending champions Great Britain while taking on Ireland on July 31, and South Africa on August 1. Quarterfinals in women sections will be played on August 3, semi-finals on August 5 and final on August 7.
Only two games have been planned in women's section on July 25. Other than India-the Netherlands game, Ireland will play South Africa.
