BSF shoots down rogue drone, seizes 15kg narcotics near Amritsar border
Amritsar, May 17: The Border Security Force (BSF) has seized more than 15kg of narcotics suspected to contain heroin after intercepting a rogue drone from Pakistan that violated Indian airspace near the International Border in the Amritsar sector.
According to a BSF officer, troops shot at the drone and two large packets, weighing 15.5kg, were recovered during a search of the area near Kakkar village in Amritsar district. Further searches of the nearby areas are ongoing.
"A rogue drone from Pakistan violated the Indian airspace and was intercepted by BSF troops by shooting at it," a BSF officer said.
The BSF is also holding a joint meeting with senior Punjab Police officials in Amritsar on Wednesday to discuss various issues relating to border management and internal security.
