PTC Web Desk: The Elmwood, a really old building in Halifax, Nova Scotia, Canada, almost got destroyed. It was built in 1826 and later turned into a fancy hotel called Victorian Elmwood Hotel. But in 2018, people wanted to tear it down. Luckily, Galaxy Properties, a real estate company, saved it. They wanted to move it and join it to a new apartment building.

Now, here's where things get exciting. Imagine a huge 220-tonne building that nobody thought could be moved. But then, the smart team from S Rushton Construction had an unusual idea: they used 700 bars of soap. Yes, soap! They didn't use the usual machines to move the building. Instead, they used the slippery soap bars. These bars helped the building move smoothly. They made a cool video showing how the soap bars worked. Instead of heavy machines, they used two big diggers and a strong truck to move the building.

Sheldon Rushton, the person with the idea, said the building easily moved 30 feet because of the soap. But wait, this is just the beginning! They plan to move it again once they finish making a new strong base for it. This way, they're saving this special old building for the future.
