The ancient hill temple attracts between 75,000 and 90,000 pilgrims every day. According to Syamala Rao, executive officer of Tirumala Tirupati Devasthanams (TTD), the world-famous Sri Venkateswara temple received Rs 25 crore in offerings in July.
Rao stated that nearly 22 lakh pilgrims visited the shrine in July, with 8.6 lakh devotees having tonsuring. The temple also sold more than a crore laddus (consecrated sweets).
The temple is devoted to Venkateswara, an incarnation of Vishnu who is believed to have arrived on Earth to save humanity from the trials and troubles of the Kali Yuga.
