Man receives quinoa seeds instead of Rs 90,000 camera lens in Amazon delivery

PTC News Desk: Online shopping mishaps are not uncommon, with mix-ups and misplacements occurring during the delivery process. In a recent incident, a Twitter user named Arun Kumar Meher experienced such a mishap when he ordered a Sigma 24-70 f/2.8 camera lens worth Rs 90,000 from Amazon. Instead of receiving the lens he had ordered, Meher was shocked to find a package filled with quinoa seeds upon its arrival.

On July 5, Arun Kumar Meher placed an order for the camera lens through Amazon. However, when the package arrived the following day, he discovered that it had already been opened. To his dismay, the lens box contained packets of quinoa seeds instead of the expected camera lens.


Outraged by the unexpected delivery, Meher took to Twitter to voice his frustration. He labeled the incident as a "big scam" and directed his complaint towards @amazonIN and Appario Retail. Sharing images of the quinoa seeds packaged inside the lens box, he demanded a swift resolution to the issue.

Expressing his dissatisfaction, Meher tweeted, "@amazonIN @amazon is saying they are investigating the case, but how come this happened in the first place? This is totally unacceptable. Please solve it as soon as possible and send me the lens I ordered or refund my money."

In response to Meher's complaint, Amazon acknowledged his frustration and offered assistance. They advised him to contact them directly via direct message (DM) to resolve the issue. Additionally, Amazon cautioned against providing order or account details through DMs, considering them as personal information.

This incident is not an isolated case, as online shopping mishaps continue to occur. Recently, another customer reported receiving a fake wristwatch instead of the Apple Watch Series 8 they had ordered from Amazon. The customer had placed an order on July 8 for the Apple watch, valued at Rs 50,900.

Instances of mistaken deliveries or mix-ups during online shopping are unfortunate occurrences. Arun Kumar Meher's experience serves as a reminder for both consumers and online retailers to remain vigilant during the purchasing process. With Amazon's promise to investigate the matter, it is hoped that a suitable resolution will be reached, and Meher will receive the camera lens he originally ordered.
