Nagpur tragedy: Man forced to carry wife’s body on bike after fatal accident, video sparks public outcry

PTC Web Desk:  In a deeply distressing incident that has shaken the nation’s conscience, a man was forced to carry the body of his wife on a motorcycle after a tragic road accident on the Nagpur-Jabalpur National Highway near Morfata, Maharashtra.

The victim, identified as Gyarsi Amit Yadav, died on the spot when a speeding truck struck her around noon on Sunday. Her husband, Amit Yadav, was left stranded in the scorching heat, desperately pleading with passing motorists for help to take her body home. Shockingly, no one stopped.

With no assistance from bystanders, the heartbroken husband tied his wife’s body to his two-wheeler and began the journey toward their native village in Seoni district, Madhya Pradesh. The couple had been living in Lonara, near Koradi in Nagpur, for the past 10 years and were on their way to Karanpur via Deolapar when tragedy struck.

The ordeal turned even more disturbing when a video surfaced on social media, showing Amit riding with his wife’s body. The footage, reportedly filmed by highway police, has triggered outrage across the country. According to local sources, the police initially signaled Amit to stop, but when he did not, they intercepted him further along the road. The body was then taken into their custody and sent to Nagpur’s Mayo Hospital for postmortem.

Social media users have condemned the indifference shown by passersby, calling for urgent measures to ensure that no grieving family is ever forced to endure such trauma again.
