Ukraine’s foreign minister shares picture of unexploded bomb, seeks NATO's help

March7, 2022: Amid the conflict between Russia and Ukraine, counting today as the Day 12th of the war, Ukraine’s Foreign Minister Dmytro Kuleba adjured NATO to declare a no-fly zone by sharing a picture of an unexploded bomb that landed on a residential building in Chernihiv on Sunday. The picture shows a 500-kilogram Russian bomb next to the residential building which did not explode. The bomb has been identified as a powerful air bomb for guaranteed destruction of ground targets. He explained that, unlike this bomb, which did not cause an explosion, several others had exploded in the 11 days since Russian forces invaded Ukraine, killing thousands of Ukrainian citizens. He tweeted, “This horrific 500 kg Russian bomb fell on a residential building in Chernihiv and did not explode. Many others did, killing innocent men, women and children. Help us save our people from the Russian barbarians! Help us close the sky. Provide us fighter planes. Do something.” Meanwhile, Ukraine President Volodymyr Zelenskyy had repeatedly urged Nato to declare a no-fly zone over his country to stop Russia's offensive, Russian President Vladimir Putin has warned that a third-party statement to restrict Ukraine's airspace would be seen as hostile by Moscow.
