Lakhimpur Kheri (Uttar Pradesh), February 23: Voting in the Kadipur Sani area of Lakhimpur Kheri resumed after almost two hours after adhesive was thrown at the Electronic Voting Machine (EVM) during the fourth phase of Uttar Pradesh Assembly elections on Wednesday, said the police officials. The incident occurred at Kadipur Sani booth number 109. The police have filed a complaint against the unidentified individual. The polls were halted for nearly two hours until the EVM was replaced, after which the voting resumed. The voters were enraged by the interruption in the voting process. According to the voters, they had to wait for two hours to cast their vote due to the incident. Teni's son Ashish Mishra is the prime accused in the case and has recently been released on bail. Amid tight security arrangements, the polling across nine districts of UP as part of Phase 4th elections 2022 has begun on Wednesday. Adhesive thrown on EVM in Lakhimpur Kheri Meanwhile, voter turnout till 3 pm was recorded at 49.89 percent. Polling is underway in all 59 constituencies and nine districts from 7 am in the morning and will come to an end till 6 pm in the evening. 624 candidates are in the poll fray from nine districts. The nine districts are Fatehpur, Lakhimpur Kheri, Lucknow, Pilibhit, Sitapur, Hardoi, Unnao, Rae Bareli, and Banda. Meanwhile, the previous three phases of polling in Uttar Pradesh concluded on February 10, 13, and 20, respectively. The fourth phase elections are underway while the remaining three phases of the seven-phase UP elections 2022 will take place on February 27, March 3, and March 7, respectively.
