Viral Video: Russian soldier surrenders; Ukrainian feeds him as he breaks down in tears
Amid the conflict between Russia and Ukraine, marking Thursday as the eighth day of the war, an emotional and heartbreaking video of a Russian soldier surrendering to Ukrainians went viral all over social media.
The viral video showed a captured Russian soldier who surrendered to Ukraine broke down in tears while sipping tea because Ukrainians fed him and also made a video call to his mother to tell her he was ‘OK’!

The video also showed the young prisoner of war surrounded by several people as he gulped up tea and pastry while a person standing near him calmed him, telling the soldier not to worry. Using her phone, she made a video call to his mother. As soon as his mother appeared on the screen, he burst into tears and blew a flying kiss to her mother on a video call.
“Everything will be okay, my son,” his mother said after he burst into tears.
A young Ukrainian man standing near the Russian soldier also claimed that “These young men, it’s not their fault. They don’t know why they are here. They are using old maps, they are lost.”
Ukraine’s President Zelensky described the invading forces as “These are not warriors of the superpower, these are confused children who were used.”
“All the captives say only one thing that they do not know why they are here. Despite the fact that there are dozens of times more than them, the morale of the enemy is constantly deteriorating,” he added.
Video of the incident went viral on social media, especially Twitter as it showed an example of humanity. The video has garnered several likes and comments.
Commenting on the video, one user said, “The way he is chugging down that tea and food it seems like he hasn’t eaten in days,”
Another wrote, “So beautiful to see these wonderful people have not lost their humanity. God bless them and the young soldier.”
