Vitality Hockey Women's World Cup : Argentina edges out New Zealand

South American powerhouse Argentina made the last eight grade defeating the Commonwealth Games champion New Zealand 2-0 in the second crossover game in the Vitality Hockey Women's World Cup in London on Monday.
Argentina led 1-0 at the breather.
Goals from a penalty stroke and a penalty corner saw Argentina through in a game that saw the Kiwis putting up their best. The slight edge the South Americans enjoyed over Black Sticks was primarily in run of play and also in utilising its chances.
An odd turn of events saw the New Zealand goalkeeper losing her glove and the stick that led to the award of a penalty stroke which was comfortably converted by Noel Barrionueve.
Mid way in the second half, Argentina consolidated the lead following a penalty corner. Delfino Merino found the target.
Now Argentina plays Australia in quarter finals.
