Aliens from hellhole Afghanistan: Trump on suspect who shot 2 National Guards near White House
President Donald Trump strongly condemned the shooting of two National Guard soldiers near the White House, calling it a “terrible attack” and “an act of terror.” He ordered the Pentagon to send 500 more troops to Washington, DC.
The two soldiers from the West Virginia National Guard were attacked on Wednesday afternoon just a few blocks from the White House, leading to an immediate lockdown as police and security forces rushed to the scene. At the time of the incident, Trump was at his Mar-a-Lago resort in Florida for Thanksgiving.
"On the eve of the Thanksgiving holiday, two members of the National Guard serving in Washington DC were shot at point-blank range in a monstrous ambush-style attack just steps away from the White House," the US President said in a video address.
According to law enforcement officials, the suspect accused of shooting the Guardsmen is believed to be an Afghan national, though authorities are still confirming details about his identity. The shooting took place near the Farragut Metro Station and left both soldiers in critical condition.
Multiple sources identified the suspect as 29-year-old Rahmanullah Lakanwal, who arrived in the United States in 2021. He was also injured in the gunfire exchange and taken to a hospital under strict security. Investigators believe he acted alone.
