'Bully of Middle East must make peace now': Trump in his first address following US strike on Iran
PTC News Desk: US President Donald Trump addressed the nation on Sunday following a series of coordinated airstrikes by American forces on three major Iranian nuclear sites — Fordow, Natanz, and Isfahan. Describing the operation as a "spectacular military success," Trump stated that the mission had effectively dismantled Iran’s nuclear enrichment capabilities.
"Iran, the bully of the Middle East, must now make peace. If they do not, future attacks would be far greater and a lot easier. Remember, there are many targets left. Tonight’s was the most difficult of them all by far, and perhaps the most lethal," the President said.
This marked the first instance of direct U.S. military action in Iran amid its conflict with Israel. The strikes came after more than a week of Israeli attacks targeting Iran’s air defence and missile systems.
"Our objective was the destruction of Iran’s nuclear enrichment capacity and a stop to the nuclear threat posed by the world's number one state sponsor of terror. Tonight, I can report to the world that the strikes were a spectacular military success. Iran's key nuclear enrichment facilities have been completely and totally obliterated," Trump said from the White House.
Trump also commended Israel and Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu for their collaboration, saying, “We operated as a team in a way few have before. We've made significant progress in eliminating this grave threat to Israel. I deeply appreciate the efforts of the Israeli military.”
