Paris, France, June 08: A horrifying incident unfolded in the town of Annecy in the French Alps, where seven people, including six children, were injured in a mass stabbing on Thursday.

According to security sources, a man armed with a knife launched an attack on a group of children, approximately three years old, while they were playing in a park near the town's lake around 9:45 am (0745 GMT).


Authorities swiftly responded to the incident, leading to the arrest of the assailant, as praised by Interior Minister Gerald Darmanin in a tweet. The quick reaction of security forces played a crucial role in apprehending the culprit.

Tragically, at least three of the victims are reported to be in critical condition, highlighting the severity of the attack. The security source stated the critical condition of these victims.

Upon hearing the distressing news of the attack, Prime Minister Elisabeth Borne's office confirmed that she would be traveling to the scene to assess the situation firsthand. Meanwhile, in the national parliament, Members of Parliament observed a minute of silence in solidarity with the victims and their families.

The incident has left the local community and the entire nation in shock, raising concerns about the safety and well-being of children. Authorities will be conducting a thorough investigation into the motives and circumstances surrounding this tragic event.
