Bandore writes to Punjab CM, expresses concern over contamination of river waters
The Punjab Governor and Administrator UT Chandigarh, Mr. V.P. Singh Badnore expressed concern over the recent contamination of river waters in the Southern parts of the state by the spill of molasses by a Sugar Mill into the Beas River. In a written communiqué to the state Chief Minister, Capt. Amarinder Singh, the Governor has sought full details of the extent of contamination and damage done to the environment. Mr. Badnore further said that the river water is used as drinking water in the downstream districts of Punjab and Rajasthan. He urged the state government to take immediate necessary steps to rectify the current situation and address the long term issue of pollution of rivers in Punjab. -PTC News
